Photos from 3M events at STLHE 2017 have been added to the gallery. Drop by for a reminder of those great days together in Halifax or browse through the galleries from previous years.
This year’s activities at STLHE 2017 were our first with the new constituency of 3M National Teaching Fellow, 3M Student Fellows, and past College Sector award winners – collectively the 3N National Teaching and Learning Follows. Unfortunately, bad weather caused the cancellation of the planned Halifax harbour cruse on the Tall Ship Silva. But any disappointment was short lived as we boarded the bus to Hubbard’s Cove and the Dauphinee Inn for a Shore Club lobster 3M reunion dinner.
This year was a special year for the 3M National Teaching Fellowship. In addition to celebrating our 30th anniversary with 3M the Council also grew to include the 3M National Student Fellows and the College Sector Award winners, College instructors were added to 3MNT award, and we launched our Recognizing educational leadership initiative with a special session.
At each annual conference of STLHE the 3M Fellows gather for a special event or activity and later their Reunion dinner. This year or trip was to a guided tour of the Museum of Anthropology on the UBC campus. For the reunion dinner we chose the Pacific Culinary Institute because its is a teaching centre. Their students prepared and served an amazing dinner to an event so successful we sold the institute out!
Well another fantastic STLHE Conference has come and gone. Our 3M events were a great success with 20 people attending the Annual General Meeting and 1000 Island river cruise. Just over 60 Fellows gathered at the RiverMill Restaurant and after dinner Sylvia and the Cordettes serenaded the diners. All three welcome to my classroom sessions were well attended and at our special session we launched the SoLE Initiative. Thanks everyone, see you next in Vancouver.
Once the business of the Annual General Meeting of the 3M Council finishes we usually have a special event. This year it was a tour of the Louisbourg Historic site. Here are some pictures from the tour and the STLHE meeting in Cape Breton
It was a sunny, big sky prairie day when the 3M Fellows gathered at the Wanuskewin Centre. After an introduction to the site and a smudging ceremony it was down to the site for a little digging for ancient signs of the First Nations People the use this sacred site so many years ago. Thanks to Ernie and all his wonderful students!
