A few years ago, the 3M National Teaching Fellows Council enjoyed a mutually productive relationship with Student Awards (studentawards.com), thanks to the efforts of Suzanne Tyson, then CEO of the company. StudentAwards.com has an audience of over 500,000 high school and first-year students. The site’s principal mission is bringing students and scholarships together, using a huge database of scholarships and awards, with the student database.

New university students have many questions, too, and the 3M Council set up an number of resources on studentawards.com to address those concerns. Several Fellows answered specific questions about preparation, disciplines, employment possibilities, strategies for success, etc.. Some Fellows established blogs, including FAQ capabilities, along with a bulletin board. At a recent conference of STLHE, Suzanne Tyson seized an opportunity to record lengthy interviews with many Fellows, from many disciplines. These interviews were also posted on the Student Awards website, and the Council now has permission to post them here. They include the kind of information and opinions about post-secondary education which never goes out of date.
