STLHE 2015 – AGM and Museum of Anthropology

Annual General Meeting, Lunch, and
Museum of Anthropology Tour

Tuesday June 16, 1:00-5:00pm
Registration deadline: TBA
Shuttle bus departs from the Westin Bayshore
immediately after the AGM

MOA1_320Everyone is welcome to the Annual General Meeting, but for those of you who will join us on the tour of the Museum of Anthropology we include lunch in the $50.00 registration fee for the museum tour.

After a brief meeting we will board our shuttle for a short 20 minute ride to the Museum. Director Anthony Shelton describes the museum as “embodying the essence of Canada’s West Coast. In the Great Hall, massive and magnificent First Nations sculptures stand against a soaring glass wall that opens onto a panorama of forested islands and snow-capped mountains bordering the Salish Sea”. This stunning building, designed by Arthur Erickson, sits on a promontory overlooking the ocean. Erickso n himself has described the Museum as “a work of light and shadows, a building perfectly harmonized and nestled in its landscape, designed to resonate to the metronome of the seasons and the diverse cultural collections which it houses.”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter a 90 minute guided tour of the Museum’s main exhibits the remaining time before heading back to the Westin is yours to wander where you like. The shuttle will get us back to the hotel in time to freshen up before the Opening Reception at 5:30.
